O’s Notes: Trumpeter, composer and arranger Michael Sarian leads a seven-piece ensemble called the Chabones. There is an eclectic, cool, 1970s fusion feel, owed to the inclusion of a Fender Rhodes and warm brass. We preferred the soft opener “Brett Atlas” and the relaxing “North” to the electronically infused tunes like “Bitch Whistle”.
