O’s Notes: Cuban pianist, arranger, producer and bandleader Dayramir Gonzalez speaks volumes at a young age. He invites a large group of talented musicians including Yosvany Terry (sax) and Paulo Stagnaro (percussion) to participate on“The Grand Concourse. There is a wealth of vibrant work on the keyboards by Gonzalez. It is tempered by the large ensemble and strings on ballads like “Blood Brothers” and “Lovely Time with My Dear“. Favorites include “Situaciones En 12/8” featuring Edmar Colin on sax, ”Smiling”, “Sencillez” and “Camello Tropical” featuring vocalist Nadia Washington. This is modern, Afro-Cuban music at its best!
