O’s Notes: George Harper plays sax. Karen Evans is a soulful singer. They combine to perform four classic ballads. George leads two different ensembles through five mellow instrumentals. We really liked “Shalabongo” anchored by Henry Franklin on bass. Karen is a nice change of pace but we preferred the instrumentals. Harper’s tenor sax is warm and rich on all tracks making this a fine recording.
