O’s Notes: This is a great collection of jazz featuring the music of clarinetists from 1927 – 1949. They play both ragtime and swing and their presence was a large part of the jazz movement from the beginning. The 21-featured clarinetists include Jimmie Noone, Tony Parenti, Jimmy Dorsey, Barney Bigard, Benny Goodman, Pee Wee Russell, Buster Bailey, Sidney Bechet and Woody Herman. My daughter plays clarinet and she was excited to hear her instrument used in jazz. The CD served as an inspiration to her. In fact I don’t think I’ll get it back!
