O’s Notes: Pianist“Oscar Perez, bassist“Kueiko Tsugawa and drummer“Brian Woodruff are the OKB Trio. They play a club-based set of bop with ample solos dispersed throughout the session by each of the musicians.“The Ing…“is a good mix of standards and originals with each of the musicians contributing two compositions to the mix. We liked the energy on “Hi-Heel Sneakers” and the Latin tinged “El Padrino”. They sounded better as we got deeper into the set and mellowed with a bluesy rendition of “Please Send Me Someone to Love”.
