O’s Notes: Tenor saxophonist Rich Halley plays in a trio format with Clyde Reed (b) and Carson Halley (d) for his latest release“The Literature. In contrast to his prior recordings of primarily original music, this set is focused on songs by jazz legends. Note to fans: Rich still manages to place is free jazz footprint on each of the songs, tunes by Monk, Davis, Coleman, Mingus, Ellington and Sun Ra. These are all artists who influenced Halley.
