O’s Notes: Trombonist Wallace leads his big band though a spirited mix of new arrangements and originals. He is drawn to the Latin, Afro-centric rhythms and this is a dominant thread on The Reckless Search For Beauty. Wayne also relates his music to dance and that keeps his rhythms flowing and the music remains accessible no matter how much improvisation goes on. Alexa Weber-Morales adds vocals on several tracks, notably “Afro Blue” in both English and Spanish”. We wouldn’t call this restless; it is fun, spirited jazz!
