O’s Notes: Producer Cory Weeds continues to unveil strong Canadian musicians. Drummer, composer Joel Haynes is the current focus on The Return!, his third album after 15 years away from the studios. He assembles a strong quartet with bassist Neil Swainson, pianist Tilden Webb, and Seamus Blake on tenor sax. They play four Haynes originals, two by Webb and a couple of covers. Our favorites are “Allure” and “Payback” with Blake blazing.
