O’s Notes: Giacomo Gates is an unlikely character to sing songs of the late Gil Scott-Heron but listen before you judge. Gates does a fine job with the material! He picks music that he can relate to and many times we thought we were listening to the legend himself. Aside from the cool swagger of the music, the message of the poetic lyrics makes this collection and all of GSH’s music stand out. The messages were prophetic and relevant still today on tunes like. “Gun”. This is an enjoyable set.
