O’s Notes: The venerable smooth jazz-fusion band anchored by Jay Beckenstein (sax) and Tom Schuman (keyboards) is back with yet another strong performance for The Rhinebeck Sessions. Rhinebeck is a city on the Hudson River near Woodstock, just north of New York City. It is the location of the studio for this amalgamation of funky, smooth, Latin-infused fusion that has paralleled the bands success for almost four decades! This is their first recording created in a spontaneous improvisational session. They met for three days and the results are great, something we hope they repeat. “Clubhouse Jam” and “Sorbet” are standouts in a set of winners!
