O’s Notes: Veteran jazz saxophonist Bob Mover pairs with the late pianist Walter Davis, Jr. for this live Concert recorded in Salerno, Italy sometime in 1989. Both artists were under-appreciated in their prime yet made incredible jazz contributions. They never captured major recording contracts or long-standing live engagements, yet they had friendly encounters that spilled into the audience, as evidenced here in almost magical sessions. They worked only a few years together preceding Walter’s death in 1990 at the age of 57. The Salerno Concert captures their spirit!
