O’s Notes: This quartet is guitarist Peter Bernstein, Ray Drummond on bass, Donald Edwards on drums with leader Jesse Davis playing sax. They play nine warm jazzy tunes, things like Hancock’s “Driftin'”, “Lament” and couple of Jesse’s own compositions. Davis puts the emotion normally associated with a tenor sax into his alto! Bernstein’s work is like liquid gold, very complementary to Jesse’s warm, passionate sax. Not a lot of grandstanding, but yet a lot of great solos. Nice work.
