O’s Notes: The cat is back with his characteristic passionate, raspy, tenor sax paired with contemporary jazz beats. Gato shared writing responsibilities with producer/arranger Jason Miles who also plays keyboards. Herb Alpert, Peter White, Sheila E and Russ Freeman all make contributions that freshen the approach. At 70 years old, as Gato makes his debut on Peak Records, with strong support from his wife Laura and 4 year old son, it seems this cat has nine lives! This is his 50th album and it is one of his best in recent years.
