O’s Notes: We lost Etta back in 2001 and this live performance was captured about a year and a half before that. It was a glimpse at a fine couple and one of the most complimentary jazz pairings of all time. Houston warms the audience leading the first four tracks: two ballads, a cooker and the soulful blues of “Please Send Me Someone to Love” before Etta joins him on “Fine and Mellow”. That’s the start of a truly entertaining evening. Jones sings her bluesy style squawking and bending the notes for emphasis making the music her own. Person is right there with her shadowing, support and surrounding her with love. Sit back and enjoy it!
