O’s Notes: Trumpeter, Enrico Rava leads his quintet through a dozen soothing compositions. He is accompanied by Gianluca Petrella (tb), Andrea Pozza (p), Rosario Bonaccorso (b) and Robert Gatto (d). We like the ballads with Rava’s soaring melodies notably “Dr. Ra Na Mr. Va”, “Secrets” and on the warm “Todamor” with a fine bass solo form Bonaccorso. But we also note “Echoes of Duke”, a more free flowing bop tune. This is a fine relaxer.
