O’s Notes: Shawn plays trombone and leads a solid rhythm section with Ross Margitza (p), Nate Brown (b) and Samuel Jewel (d). Quentin Coaxum (t) and Jonathan McQuade (flugel horn) play on 3 and 4 selections respectively. Bell wrote five of the seven tunes and they are well developed compositions. We liked Shawn’s warm lead line on “You Stepped out of a Dream”, the rich ballad “When I Cry”, “Flow” and really cool groove of “Requiem For the Lovers”.
