O’s Notes: Double A returns to the smooth jazz scene with a variety of new tunes. There is a little reggae on “Ernie” followed by the Latin ring of “Out of Nowhere” featuring Greg Carmichael (nylon string g) and Miles Gilderdale (electric g), the composers of all eleven tracks. They get into a jazzy neo-bop groove on “Tied Up With String” which extends into “Only In My Dreams”. The core songs have simpler beats in contrast with the syncopated “Egg” and “Now I’m On My Way”. Acoustic Alchemy is pushing new ideas on This Way and we like the trend.
