O’s Notes: Richard Lanham may be a familiar name to you. He is a veteran vocalist who has performed solo and with many famous groups including The Drifters, Speedo and The Cadillacs and the Ink Spots. Thou Swell was recorded back in 1998 and is just new being released, a collection of standards, many with jazz, blues and calypso rhythms. Jerry Weldon (sax) and Joe Magnarelli (t) add brass complements along with a strong rhythm section. This set puts Richard in his sweet spot as an entertainer.
