O’s Notes: Drummer Chico Hamilton has hit the sweet spot on Thoughts of… He assembled a fine group of musicians including guitarist Cary DeNigris and Karen Strassmayer (fl, sax). Joe Beck, Rodney Jones and Larry Coryell also make guest appearances. The other success point is the music selection. Chico plays dedications to people who have influenced him: Miles, Lester Young, Coltrane, Basie and the three guest guitarists. The arrangements are fresh. There are blues, bop and cool jazz, all with true feeling and soul!
