O’s Notes: Pianist/composer Micah Thomas leads a trio set with bassist Dean Torrey and drummer Kyle Belford. The original program has a good mix of bop and ballads, both drawing listeners into the mix. The pace is explosive on “Tornado” and in pockets of “The Game”, our favorite of the set. Tide is a pleasant session that works in the foreground and in the background!
