O’s Notes: This young sax player has drive, passion and an incredible desire to make great new jazz. He works in a quartet with pianist Aaron Goldberg, Joel Forbes on bass and Carl Allen on drums. The music, eight tracks written and or arranged by Escoffery, is mainly upbeat bop based on blues like the title track with each of the musicians taking a turn speaking through their instruments. Wayne shows good promise.
