O’s Notes: The talented smooth jazz trumpeter is back with another collection of contemporary jazz that is ready to crack the top of the charts. He opens with the classic Temptations tune “Papa Was A Rolling Stone”. He gets help from co-producer, keyboardist Miles Black and a star laden cast that includes Jeff Lorber (keyboards) and guitarist Paul Brown. The funky groove of “Rockin’ the Ribjoint” is contagious. Hasselbach brings a mellow tone and a touch of romance to us on “In Santo Quala” with Marc Antoine complementing him on acoustic guitar. He infuses subtle doses of Latin, hip-hop and funk to keep the music fresh but never off of the edge. This is another very good set!
