O’s Notes: Guitarist Chris Cortez serves up a winner with Top Secret, his latest release. There are ten selections mostly fresh arrangements of jazz and pop classics along with a couple of originals. We enjoyed most of the tunes notably “That’s the Way of the World”, “Stompin’ At the Savoy” & “Donna Lee” – duets with guitarist Greg Petito and “The Man I Love”. Cortez plays his arch top guitar Loretta to perfection and surrounds himself with stellar musicians to make this a strong session, one truly worth listening to end to end.
