O’s Notes: The band is a Ralph Johnson (d), Morris Pleasure (keyboards, b, flugelhorn) and Steen Kyed (g). You may recognize the first two guys from their association with Earth Wind & Fire (EWF). They play mostly new originals that have some of that cool old-R&B sound combined with a natural aura. They chill with covers of “All Blues” and “The Island” which fit in nicely to their program. “Dominique” has a taste of EWF courtesy of guest artists Verdine White (b), Al McKay (g) and Philip Bailey (vocals). Our favorite is “Love Comes In Time” featuring Howard Hewett (vocals). Their soulful sound is retro yet fresh. It will appeal to many baby boomers and young listeners as well.
