O’s Notes: Jessy J is one of the latest additions to the smooth jazz sax ranks. She has a soulful voice on tenor sax and flute that reminded us of the late Grover Washington Jr. on “Somewhere In A Dream” and “Tropical Rain”. Jessy takes her time savoring the notes and putting her heart into them. There are several tunes with Latin flavors including “True Love”, “Baila!” and “Morning of the Carnival” – with club beats. Producer Paul Brown co wrote several pieces, plays guitar and programs drums on several songs as well though we preferred the natural drums of Sergio Gonzalez. Roberto Valley (b) and Gregg Karakas (p) are among the other musicians contributing to the project. Jessy has a good start!
