O’s Notes: Smooth jazz saxophonist Steve Cole dials in the heat on Turn It Up, his latest undertaking on Artistry Records. Producer David Mann (sax, keyboards, programming, fl), leads a stellar lineup that includes Ricky Peterson (B3), Kari Parker (d), Bernd Schoenhart (g) and Lamar Jones (b). Cole and Mann wrote the majority of the tunes except James Lloyd’s “Bright Side” and a sweet cover of Bobby Womack’s “Woman’s Gotta Have It” with guest Keith Fluitt singing. Cole is on his game especially with “She’s The One” delivering a performance that will please old fans and attract a few new ones.
