O’s Notes: BMR4 is Jay Moynihan (sax), Chris Bernhardt (b), Mike Rodbard (d) and Neil Alger (g). Neil and Jay handle the melodies alone or together as on “No Means No”. Both of these guys can cook and they take us on cool trip though ten sizzlers. The songs are a mix of originals and a few covers like James Brown’s “Ain’t It Funky” and Horace Silver’s “The Preacher”. The Latin rhythms of “La Rosita” and “The Blues of Clark & Addison” keep the program interesting and show the bands strength across styles. No matter what they play, it has a solid groove. They will keep the audience aroused.
