O’s Notes: Tenor saxophonist Keith Oxman is comfortable playing alongside formidable talent. On Glimpses he sparred with David Liebman. This time out he works with Houston Person (t-sax) presenting Two Cigarettes In The Dark, a cool mix of modern jazz with a few ballads and swingers thrown in for balance. Of note are “Everything Happens To Me” featuring vocalist Annette Murrell with Oxman (left-side) and Person (right-side) complimenting with soothing sax! We also enjoyed “Wind Chill” featuring Jeff Jenkins (p). Paul Romaine (d) Ken Walker (b) anchor the rhythm section to round out a strong band and a fine set.
