O’s Notes: Trombonist and composer Delfeayo Marsalis leads the Uptown Jazz Orchestra on a trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras Day. The vocals come from Andrew Baham, Tonya Boyd-Cannon and Glen-David Andrews. The rhythm section is anchored by two of the best drummers in the business, Herlin Riley and Marvin “Smitty” Smith. Special guest Branford Marsalis (t-sax) solos on three selections notably “Big Chief”. We also enjoyed “So New Orleans” featuring Dr. Brice Miller (vocals, t), “New Suit”, and “Carnival Time”.
