O’s Notes: Vibraphonist Tim Collins assembles a strong band including Ingrid Jensen (t), Aaron Parks (p) and drummer Simon Lott. Collins starts out cooking on “Buzzy John’s Blues” before taking it down a notch on “Valcour” reminiscing about the peaceful times he spent on the island as a child. They continue to step down the pace to “The Rover”, a recovery tune. We acknowledge that ballads dominate the program and that’s not a bad thing here. “Song For Jason” is a cool tune that sets up the finale, a unique arrangement of the Police’s “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic”.
