O’s Notes: University of North Texas graduate, trumpeter, composer Stuart Mack makes his debut leading a quintet with Alejandro Aviles (sax, fl), Manuel Valera (p), Adi Meyerson (b), and Dan Pugach (d). Crisp trumpet notes are in abundance throughout combined with warm sax on tunes like “Pure Intentions” including a fine solo by Meyerson who also shines on “Bass Solo”. Valera steps up on “Beginning and End”, they are cooking on “Vibrations”, and mellow on “Stu’s Blues”, wrapping the set with a fine rendition of “Summertime”.
