O’s Notes: Give a man an upright bass, a bow, and instruct him to express his innermost emotions through his instrument. That’s what we have with Brandon López on Vilevilevilevilevile. Brandon makes his instrument, a drum, congas, a rhythmic instrument, as well as stating melodies on this extremely emotional endeavor. There’s energy in that bow, across a wide variety of moods. This is not music that will appeal to a wider audience, but if you take the time to listen, you can get inside of the head of a musician, expressing his true inner self.
