Jay Beckenstein (sax ï74), Tom Schuman (keyboards ï77), Julio Fernandez (g ï84), Scott Ambush (b ï92) and the newest member, Lionel Cordew (d) chose to recreate standard tunes on“Vinyl Tap. Don’t excuse this as a cheap approach to proliferate the brand! They pour new life and that Spyro Gyra groove into every tune! Among the best are ‘Cisco Kid‘, ‘Stolen Moments‘, ‘Carry On‘ and ‘Sunshine Of Your Love‘ with Ambush delivering a punchy and deliberate bottom.
