O’s Notes: Brazilians drummer, percussionist and composer Vanderlei Pereira teams up with his wife, vocalist, percussionist and co-producer Susan Pereira for Vision For Rhythm, his debut as a leader. Blindfold Test is the band, a collection of talented Brazilian musicians. Guitarist Paul Meyers provides excellent fretwork throughout the session with pianist Deanna Witkowski and Jorge Continentino (fl, a-fl, t-sax) also making strong contributions. Susan’s vocalizations bring festive coloration and balance to a warm Brazilian set. We enjoyed the drum/percussion exchange on “Corrupião”, Gustavo Amarante’s bass solo on “O Que Ficou” and Vanderlei’s solo on “De Volta à Festa” making this a strong Latin session.
