O’s Notes: This is a collection of soft bop, ballads that sing but have bebop elements. Monk has inspired Ritter and this shows up in accents especially on “Punch” and the “Hot Pepper”. There are many fine piano solos but the dynamic duets with Jon Metzger (vibes) stand out. Jane Hart Brendle (violin) and Ashima Scripp (cello) bring the romance of strings on several tracks and Dave Holland makes a guest appearance on “In Between” adding an excellent bass solo. The dominating theme is well stated in the title as Claire dances with grace and splendor.
