O’s Notes: Dumpstaphunk is a New Orleans-based, funk band that includes two 2nd generation Neville’s, Ivan (vocals, Hammond, keys) and Ian (g) with Tony Hall (vocals, b, g), Nick Daniels III (vocals, b), Deven Trusclair (d), Alex Wasily (tb) and Ryan Nether (t). Their groove here is straight out of the 1970s, a funky, soulful groove that dominated radio waves in urban centers across the USA. Ironically “Justice 2020” reflects a sad state of today’s diversity, equity and inclusion that is not much different than the 1970s. The good news is that while there are far more out of the closet racists, there is also a greater sense of equity that is being discussed in wide circles. And so, the cries for love on “United Nations Stomp” may find a home.
