O’s Notes: Pianist and composer Max Haymer leads a trio with bassist David Robaire and Dan Schnelle keeping time. The program is mostly originals sandwiched by covers of two Cole Porter classics notably “So In Love”. Whirlwind was a recorded live at Sam First Bar in LA for an enthusiastic crowd. As the title suggests, this one’s packed with energy though they also shine when they slow down on “Speak Low”. Our favorites are “Proof of Evil” and “Love For Sale”.
