O’s Notes: Joe Sullivan is yet another gem from Canada. He plays trumpet and composes modern jazz for both small and large ensembles. Whiskey Jack Waltz pairs him with guitarist Lorne Lofsky and a polished rhythm section including Alec Walkington (b), André White (p) and Dave Laing (d). The interaction between Joe and Lorne are seamless sharing the melodies over nine fresh tunes. The program is well balanced between burners and mellow tunes like “Lonely Roads” featuring Sullivan in flugelhorn.
