O’s Notes: Bandleader George Gee assembles a swinging large ensemble that delivers Holiday cheer over ten classic songs. John Dokes is the vocalist, and he shines on the seductive “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve” with Patience Higgins (b-sax), and “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” with a warm solo from music director, arranger David Gibson (tb). Hilary Gardner joins Dokes singing “Baby It’s Cold Outside”. The solos are plentiful including fine work from Freddie Hendrix (t), Andy Gravish (t, flugelhorn), and Steve Einerson (p). Winter Wonderland is a hit from start to finish!
