O’s Notes: Philly-based drummer Don ’DA’ Jones and bass player Dan Greenberg founded Rented Mule. They team up with Jason O’Mara (sax), Marcell Bellinger (t), Pete McRae (g), Camille G. Brown (keyboards) and Napoleon Black (percussion). This is a funky band reminiscent of 1970s Brecker Brothers funky fusion. These are all original tunes written by Greenberg, Jones, Mascia or producer Todd Horton. You will be enticed to pat your feet on “Drive By Booty” and “Massapoag Jaunt”. We liked the up tempo tunes best including “Feed the Ferals” and “Mamadou Ba”, tunes that reminded us of early Brecker Brothers music.
