O’s Notes: Saxophonist Geof Bradfield leads a large ensemble that is heavily brass laden with saxophonists Anna Webber & Greg Ward, trumpeters Russ Johnson & Marquis Hill, and Joelle Adams on trombone. Scott Hesse (g), Clark Sommers (b), and Dana Hall (d) anchor the rhythm section and add accents where necessary. Varied configurations of the nine musicians make sweet harmonies throughout the set. There is a wide range of passion on this improvisational endeavor.“Yes and…“ranges from the dominant peaceful encounter to more emotionally aggravated tunes such as “Prelude”. And then there’s some sadness on “Chorale”. Regardless of the mood, it was palatable.
