O’s Notes: This is Gerald’s eighth solo release and he seems to get better with each one. He brings that Philly-sound to contemporary jazz fans in a variety of approaches. Chuck Loeb (g, keyboards) and sax player Chris Farr are the primary collaborators on Your Move. The music is all new with the exception of Gerald’s take on Sly Stone’s “Thank You”. Veasley has excellent chops as demonstrated with his fluid movement on the melody and solos of “Traveling Light”. They slow things down a bit on “So Close to the Sun”, a very mellow tune. Our favorite track is “Cross Currents” but we found the entire album pleasing.
