O’s Notes: We were fascinated with Scott’s Great American Songs and he returns to examine the works of a lesser-known jazz composer, Jule Styne. Hamilton works in a quartet with the same team he used in his dedication to Billie Holiday: Tim Ray (p), Adage Zinno (b) and Jim Gwin (d). Styne wrote many solid tunes mostly from a series of Broadway musicals including “Time After Time” and the Christmas classic “Let It Snow”. Scott infuses his buttery tone on tenor sax and makes the music swing, sooth and sway.
