O’s Notes: Saxophonist, flautist Steve Wilson reflects on his storied career for Enduring Sonance, his latest release. He is accompanied by seasoned peers Renee Rosnes (p), Joe Locke (vibes), Jay Anderson (b), and Kendrick Scott (d). Guest artist Kevin Newton adds french horn on two selections “Quiet Girl” and “Francisco”. We enjoyed the warmth of “Helen’s Song” and “Pieces of Dreams” featuring Locke and Rosnes respectively. “A Volta”, “The Eyes of Love”, and “The Surest Things Can Change” are other highlights in a set of mostly ballads that has appeal to a wide audience.
