O’s Notes: Cuban bassist, guitarist, percussionist, bandleader Kiki Valera releases his second solo album in the US, Vacilón Santiaguero. There is an abundance of trumpeters, nine in total along with four vocalists, Pedro Vargas (congas, bongos, perc), and Steve Guasch (coros). They play a festive set of freshly arranged Cuban classics. Among the best are “Este Vacilón” and “El curator De Tula”. We felt the infusion of energy!
