O’s Notes: We welcome Seattle based vocalist, NicoleYvette to the contemporary jazz scene with vocals and a message that hasn’t been heard in many years, for her debut, Say Yes. It is a mix of jazz, gospel, roots, soul, and R&B backed by core band of Dawn Clement (p), Jermaine Paul (b), Andrew Renfroe (g), Terri Lyne Carrington (d), and several notable, guest artists. She shares the mic with Kurt Elling on “Such Is the Love”, “Come Close” with Keyon Harrold and J. Ivy, and the title track with Joel Ross (vibes). We also enjoyed her take on “Night and Day”, “Inuka Uangaze” featuring Carrington, and “We Rise at Dawn” featuring Renfroe.
