O’s Notes: Drummer Ed Thigpen migrated to Denmark over 30 years ago and today at 70 years old he remains a vibrant part of the local jazz scene which he helped create. His trio Rhythm Features, formed several years ago, returns after a well-received first recording. This session, recorded live at Copenhagen Jazzhouse, also includes the warm and throaty sax of Joe Lovano. The quartet is seamless on seven new tracks surrounding a couple of classics. Thigpen characterizes the music as having the feel-good pulse. Indeed it does and in a relaxed, polished way.
