O’s Notes: This quartet works like a well-oiled machine. They are a working band: John Pearce (p), Steve Brown (d), and long time associate, bassist Dave Green with Hamilton on sax. They play mostly standards and the swinging “Licks”, written by Green featuring the bassist trading leads with Scott. The warmth of Hamilton’s tenor comes out especially on romantic ballads like “When I Fall In Love” and “When You Wish Upon A Star”. This live set at Pizza Express Jazz Club captures all of the nuances of being there.
