O’s Notes: This is a historical perspective of one of the great jazz guitarists, Tal Farlow. Many people are interviewed for their impressions about Tal. The overwhelming theme is that he was humble; a man who seemed destined to play his instrument. He was admired by many people, a musician’s musician and one who loved playing. We hear from George Benson and Lenny Breau. Lenny continues with rich conversation and duets with Tal. The trio we hear most includes Tommy Flanagan (p) and Red Mitchell (b). Yes, there is great guitar playing but as important; we get a true glimpse inside a man who lived to be a part of good music, Talmage Farlow.
