O’s Notes: Trombonist Walt Boenig leads this spirited brass big band through 18 songs on 2 CDs. It’s a lot of music with different arrangements. Drummer Tommy Check wrote six of the songs and arranged eight. Among the classics included are “Summertime”, “Unforgettable” and “On A Clear Day”. They create a large, happy sound supported by warm, dynamic brass and beats that bring you into the music. The finale is a nice samba arranged by sand featuring drummer Bobby Harrison.
